Someone Like Me

You don't have to be alone.

This site was made so no one has to feel alone. We all need someone who understands. Someone to talk to....someone like us.

Poem: Everyday Is A Blessing

Everyday Is A BlessingEveryday I wake up Is a blessing to me To see the sun To see the treesTo enjoy the feeling of the breeze As it flows around me To enjoy the warmth of the sun As the rays warm my bodyTo appreciate All that I have In this life And to reliesThat all I have That all I need That everyday Is a blessing from GodSee More

Looking Both Ways Before Crossing The Street....

Well, we've finished painting at The Creative Vision Factory, moved furniture in, set up our computers and stocked a lot of supplies.   I've made up the daily schedule (at least through and including December and January.)   I also made up the course descriptions, so now we have a handout/mailer with all the information.   I've invited all my e-mail friends and Facebook "friends," as have Jason and Michael.   There are potentially a HUNDRED guests invited to the Opening Reception!   We'll…See More

"   Jo-Jo lives on, at least for now.   He has good days and bad.   On a GOOD day he can go down the front steps unaided, on a bad, he's carried down AND up.   He's pooping and peeing in the house…"

"Hey Ken, I've been thinking of this site and my non-participation...life here in the ShelleyDome has been pretty awful to say the least. I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I hope that he goes peacefully. So hard when your pet is suffering.…"

"Hey, Colleen!   What the hey?   Have you abandoned this, your brainchild?   It looks as if I'm the only blogger and lately I have felt like the last man standing.   Here's a recent painting:   "

Welcome to Someone Like Me. My name is Colleen Sullivan and I am the creator of this site. I have a very rare form of muscular dystrophy called Dermatomyositis. Because it's so rare, it's been hard for me to find people that really understand what I am going through.

Recently I did come across someone with my condition. I was so happy!! It inspired me to make a place where we can ALL find someone like us!

Maybe you are living with an illness or chronic condition. Maybe someone you know or love is and you want to understand them better. Whatever the reason, this is the place to meet people like you.

This is a safe and fun place to make friends, ask questions, and share stores with people who understand.

Thank you for coming to my site and helping me accomplish my dream. I don't want anyone to ever feel like they are alone again!

UPDATE: As of 4-13-2011 There are now 8 people here with Dermatomyositis!! Yea! The site is already working to bring people together!
